White a Designer "Colour"?  Articles on White

In terms of basic wiring, I am not a white room type of person.  While I do admire the very clean look that can be achieved when working with white, especially when working in a minimalist mode.  White can work well with wood, metal and concrete.  The only drawback with white is that it is not kid friendly, and as someone with kids, all white rooms would create a constant spill anxiety.  Here are a couple of articles that put the focus on white:
